Edison Typewriter

A. B. Dick Co., Chicago – 1892

Edison typewriter

The Edison typewriter was designed to produce stencils that would be used on a small printing press called a Mimeograph. The typewriter was awkward to use and was not a practical typewriter for simply typing on paper. Still many were sold because in conjunction with the Mimeograph one could make many copies if required.
