The Simplex Typewriter Co., New York, 1892 – no serial number

Many models of the Simplex typewriter were produced which were marketed for children. However the first model was sold as a typewriter for adults. It is not surprising that they decided to target younger typists after the first few years!

“Progressive People WRITE NEAT LETTERS on this Machine.”

“This machine is not to be placed in the category with other so-called Typewriters, selling for $1.00 and thereabouts, which are utterly useless for any purpose except that of a toy. The SIMPLEX is the product of experienced typewriter manufacturers, and is a Practical Typewriter in every sense of the word, and as such we guarantee it. The price is marvellously low for a practical writing machine.”
