The Oliver Typewriter Company, Dubuque, Iowa – 1893

 

 

The Oliver 1 typewriter appeared in 1893 and went on to become a huge seller, with models produced up to the Model 9.

The Oliver design is defined by its ‘bat wings’ which contain all of the typebars on either side of the printing point.

The model 1, which looks a lot like the later models, is defined by its side lifting handles being flush with the table.
