The Kosmopolit typewriter is an early German Index typewriter that followed its predecessor the Hammonia typewriter (which can be seen in this collection) in 1888. Both of these typewriters were made in Hamburg Germany by the famous manufacturing company Guhl and Harbeck. Guhl and Harbeck were also famous for manufacturing sewing machines and pencil sharpeners.
