The Hall Century typewriter was the second typewriter to be made by Thomas Hall after his historic Hall 1 typewriter from 1881. The Hall 1 (which can be seen in this collection) was the first index typewriter. An index typewriter does not have a keyboard but instead uses a selector or pointer to select the characters.
