The Caligraph was the second typewriter to appear on the American market and the first with the big double keyboard - no shift key. Notice the platen (roller) has flat facets for good contact with the type. Later models had smooth, round platens, after manufacturers learned how to grind subtle curves into the type at the end of the type-bars.
